Architecture and Art Movies to Watch for Inspiration- Part 1
The Fountainhead (1949)
All modern architecture lovers will go gaga about this one! Designer of Danish Maritime Museum, Mountain Dwellings, 8 House and many other influencing buildings- Bjarke Ingels- showcases his own thrilling experience of working on his biggest project so far- the Two World Trade Centre at New York. The documentary gives a glimpse of how the star architect juggles between his professional life, personal life and health issues.
As the later part of the title suggests, this documentary is a tribute to the legendary Indian architect and urban designer Charles Correa. Director Arun Khopkar beautifully blends comprehensive information and elegant cinematography in this hour-long chronicle. I wouldn’t disclose why this documentary is interestingly named ‘Volume Zero’; go through Correa’s interview in the film to find out!
How Much Does Your Building Weigh, Mr. Foster? (2010)
Crime, art and comedy come together to narrate the tale of Banksy, a renowned British graffiti artist. Often misunderstood as a docucomedy, this documentary is a treat for art lovers. Besides a vibrant display of detailed art and artists at work, the film will surely intrigue you with its speculated ‘real’ footage.
